Gibson's 490R and 498T humbucking pickups are similar to Gibson's '57 Classic pickup, but with more pronounced upper mids. They have that classic smoky Gibson tone, with just a bit of extra output to help cut through the mix. The 498T features a frequency response that favors the upper midrange and high end, a coupled with the higher output of its Alnico V magnets, is an outstanding pickup for rock leads. The 490R in the neck position uses Alnico II magnets, resulting in a super-smooth frequency response.
