Reviewer Ryan B. Martinez writes about Dan Lambert's The Double Drum Trio, "Guitarist Dan Lambert recently recruited Ricardo Amaya, a percussionist versed in Latin and African drumming, and second percussionist Erik Hickerson, who plays with Amaya in the tribal drum and fire-dance group La Flamilia. The 12-song CD is a seamless, wily blend of styles from East to West: Indian raga, American folk, jazz and Middle Eastern music. The lineup and album, rich with exotic sounds, improvisation and genre fusion, mark a slight departure from Lambert's usual sound - or maybe just a revitalization of it. Hickerson and Amaya provide Lambert a fluid rhythm platform on which to explore; they can power up to driving flourishes, or dial it down for jazzier passages."
