A look at the Guitar Nine organization's corps of Ibanez-built guitars, amassed from 1980 through 2024. As many of us are aware, the modern story of Ibanez guitars really began in 1957 when the youth of Japan, like the rest of the world, started to get bitten by the rock 'n' roll bug. In the '60s and '70s, Ibanez would copy popular guitar shapes from Gibson, Fender and others, and after lawsuits were settled out of court in 1978, the company made changes to its headstock and other logos and began to focus on producing its own unique designs. It's been called the "Ibanez Imposing 9", but that's a nearly splenetic way of saying Ibanez guitars are played by superior musicians such as Steve Vai, George Benson, Paul Stanley, Joe Satriani, Bob Weir and Paul Gilbert.
