Home Studio Registry: Beau Hall

Future plans/projects

Immediate plans: recording our next CD, live in the studio. 5 piece funk band (2 gtrs, harmonica, drum, bass, voc and bkg vocs, congas).

Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul, custom Strats, mexi-Teles. Peavey 5-str bass (don't know which one)

Sound modules

Congas, Drum kit.

J-Station to record my guitar direct. Alesis Nanoverb and Nanocomp.

57s and 58s mostly, bullet mic for the harmonica.

Tascam 688 combo

Tape decks

Tascam 688

Crappy home stereo and crappier speakers.

HP something or other, 40 gig HD, only 128 meg ram.

Music software

Sonic Foundry Soundforge and Acid

Additional equipment

My hands, my mind, my voice.

Additional notes

My goal is to capture the sound of the 70's and early 80's basic funk acts (without the old keyboards, violins, horn sections, etc.) like Sly, Stevie, Rick James, Prince, etc. We're using the Tascam 688 because that's all we have, and I've used it on our last CD (which sold over 100 copies worldwide online, making the record go uhh, cardboard).
