The Story
"Live In Moscow" features a live performance by Spooky Actions of Anton Webern's "Five Movements For String Quartet", recorded at the DOM in Moscow, in May of 2005. Spooky Actions plays arrangments of various compositions and includes improvisations based on the music presented. Performers include Bruce Arnold (guitar), John Gunthe (saxophones and flute), David Phillips (upright bass) and Tony Moreno (drums).

Since its inception, the New York based ensemble Spooky Actions has been applying jazz improvisational techniques to non-jazz material. In this performance, the band states each movement, then uses Webern's finely crafted structures as a jumping off point for masterful improvisation.
