The Story
"Aborescence/Become The Other" features the eclectic UK act's 1994 album, "Arborescence" (not sure if the mispelling was intentional) and their final album on the band's own Dovetail imprint, "Become The Other" - packaged together for one low price. "Arborescence" serves as the bridge from '70s cosmic rock to '90s style instrumental rock fusion. Guitarist Ed Wynne described the band's music in an interview with Richard Allen, "It's anything that comes along, really. Recording wise, certainly, I don't see it as a particular style. If anything, it's the opposite of that. If I'm putting together one track of a certain style, then I'm sure the one after that will be totally different. The ethereal side to it is definitely there all the way through, and other recognisable bits, but live, I'd say, it's a slightly heavier thing - more like a band than a recording set up. Space rock, really. Full - speed - ahead, cosmic, space music!" "Become The Other" took a fresh look at the Ozric sound, introducing a more electronic element in tracks such as "Ahu Belahu", "Gehedengi" and "Wob Glass", but although the line-up had changed dramatically (Rad on drums and Seaweed on synths, replacing Merv and Joie, respectively) the Ozric vibe remained firmly intact.
