Songwriting contests, battle of the bands, radio station song challenges are all
designed to promote competition between music artists. Instead of artists competing
against one another, imagine if they worked together. I mean actually working
together to promote each other's shows and music. How many more CDs and
downloads would you sell if the music artists in your home city and state helped you
promote your music?
This is the foundation of what I teach at Music Strategies (www.musicstrategies.com). Why compete against another music artist when you can sell thousands of CDs together? When artists work together they become more effective than any radio promoter or publicist they can hire. They begin to promote themselves based upon what is important to them and what the messages are in their songs.
Two examples from the last Music Strategies are Kristin Korb and Jannel Rap. Kristin
has already sold her first 1,000 CDs in only 2 months by learning how to build a
different relationship with her fans and with working with other artists she met at
the last seminar. Jannel was able to organize 200 independent music artists in the
United States and in other countries that played shows to raise awareness for people
who were missing. In 2 weeks, these performances and the attention they received
from the media by working together lead to 10 people actually being found. 10 people
who the police and FBI could not previously find.
By artists working together instead of competing against one another you can get
more people to your shows, sell more CDs and downloads and more importantly, you can change people and the cities you live in.
To find out how you can trade a handful of the CDs sitting in your living room to
learn how to really impact and change people with your music, please review
