Your Ears Will Bleed

Ouch. Bash your head repeatedly - hard - into the wall. Oil up your neck hinges. Maybe have a spinal tap (what do you need all that excess fluid for anyway?) Now you're prepared for the sonic onslaught known as Metal Man (aka Phil Bennett). He submitted his way cool, heavy metal CD-R, called Damage. And yes, if you turn it up loud enough, with your parent's consent of course, your ears will bleed! Metal Man takes the excitement of, say, an instrumental Guy Mann-Dude track and pushes it to the next level of heaviness - how can that be a bad thing? Timing is everything in rapid fire, high-energy riffs and furiously picked solos, and Metal Man has got it down cold. If you're into iron-fisted, virtuosic, instrumental metal, and you're not into Metal Man, then you need to get out more - this is the stuff neck braces and hearing aids were made for.

Phil began playing guitar at the age of 8. Influenced by guitar legends such as Tony Iommi, Randy Rhodes, Jimmy Page and Dimebag Darrell, his obsession with the guitar soon spawned into metal mayhem. He has written and scored music for television shows in both Canada and the United States, including songs for a documentary on producer Jack Richardson (The Guess Who). Phil also created orchestral suspense scores for "Girly Ghost Hunters", a ghost horror show. He has been doing session guitar work at Voodoo Highway Music studio in Toronto since 2001. Phil plays in a band called Inclined (who've just released a cover CD), and records and produces local bands on his own.

Metal Man's goals include establishing a kick-ass metal band to take on the world. With an eye on his future, he plans to continue producing himself and others, keep writing with other artists, put out more albums, and continue to write for TV and film.
