The Byron Nemeth Group, led by guitarist Byron Nemeth, comes rocketing out of Cleveland with their brand of progressive rock influenced instrumental music. The band submitted a demo CD-R of five original tunes, which are being shopped around in anticipation of Nemeth's full-length solo album. Shades of heavy Kansas and Yes can be noticed in the music, especially "Explorer Suite", which would be at home on the Kansas "Masque" album. Nemeth plays guitar from the gut (check out the shred solo on "Ancient Evenings"), his riffs and solos often offering counterpoint to the electric violin lines contributed by Nathen Tulenson. Rounding out the group is a solid rhythm team of Michael Nelson on drums and Daniel Desantis on bass guitar.
Born In Quito, Equador, Byron came to the USA at a young age and began playing guitar in various established rock bands. He has studied jazz and classical guitar at Cleveland State University with respected teachers Bob Frasier, Richard Bachman and Rich Holdsworth. Byron also teaches guitar, and has a wide range of of guitar students of various styles and ages. He played guitar at eight performances in the 1997 Oct./Nov. season with the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra in the Cleveland Ballet rock opera "Ozone Hour".
Nemeth will release in 1999 his long awaited guitar solo album. In the style of Jeff Beck/Steve Vai/Joe Satriani, Nemeth will deliver material that encompasses new guitar directions of heavy rock impressions and light jazz shades.
