Al DiMeola
Casino
The Story
Guitarist Al DiMeola's third album as a leader, "Casino" is another classic DiMeola fusion album, in the tradition of "Elegant Gypsy". DiMeola is joined by a stellar group of musicians (which includes keyboardist Barry Miles, bassist Anthony Jackson and drummer Steve Gadd) and his own playing improved noticably since his stint with Return to Forever, which had ended two years prior to recording "Casino". Blazing fast, muted picking can be found on cuts such as the Latin-based "Chasin' The Voodoo" and Chick Corea's "Senor Mouse", and the acoustic guitar is brought out for the rousing, flamenco-influenced "Fantasia Suite For Two Guitars".
