'Combining' a hard rock and shred attack with advanced technique, a developed sense of melody and a sense of humor describes the music on Todd Grubb's debut instrumental CD, Combination. The material includes theme music from a cartoon series Grubbs worked on ("The Adventures Of Uncle Frebis And The Amazing Chihuahua Boy"), a twisted beach song ("Shelly"), a 'crazy' guitar song with as many guitars coming in and out as possible ("French Toast"), and the title track, a five-part medley of sorts. Grubbs' playing is the kind that will entertain guitar fans throughout many listenings, and his supporting cast of Mark Prator (drums), Paul Prator (keyboards) and Shawn Malone (bass, Chapman stick) are all fine musicians in their own right. Highly recommended.
