Beautiful Device

Florida guitarist Todd Grubbs musical rebirth is his 2003 CD, Beautiful Device, which advances from the moods and themes of his debut hard rock instrumental CD, "Combination". You can smell the oil burning on the opening track "Satafacation", which sounds like some kind of strange machine starting up, while "Time Phazer" combines old and new school rock styles. "Inky Goes To Tampa" is one kitten's adventures in the big city set to rock guitar music, while "The Cowboys Of Alpha Centuri" is centered around the idea that life may exist in this distant star system. The closing track, "The Luckiest Monkies In The World", is the musical equivalent of an after dinner mint - something lighthearted on which Grubbs used three different guitars for maximum effect. Again, the supporting cast of Jeff Henry (drums), Jordan Leino (keyboards) and Patrick Bettison (bass) is top notch - check out Grubbs' reawakening to the pure joy of the creative process without barriers or boundaries
