Baptism By Desire is guitarist Michael Fath's first all acoustic, all instrumental, all solo guitar CD with styles crossing everything from classical to jazz to hot country to rockabilly to bluegrass to flamenco -- sometimes within the same piece. Selections include "Malaguena" (a rock'n roll conception of the wonderous art of flamenco guitar), "Lost In Blue" (blues in the verses with a Travis Picking chorus), "Southern Maiden" (inspired by years of listening to bluegrass banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar), "Rockabye Danny" (a tribute to Fath's favorite guitar player, the late Danny Gatton) and "A Rose For Lisa" (dedicated to Fath's sister-in-law who is fighting cancer). Baptism By Desire closes, however, on an impressionistic note, with "Shenandoah Valley Suite" providing the perfect soundtrack for a long and leisurely drive south.
