Mirrors features an impressive collection of original contemporary fusion tracks, exhibiting Pierce's clearly focused melodic creativity and dynamic approach to his instrument. The first cut, "Spanky's Song," is a dramatic stereo duet, with a variety of rhythmic surprises and flawless synchronization of harmonies between two lead guitars. The title cut is a harmonically intense blues boogie in double time, with a jovial, yet sinister interlude. On "Your Presence Is Known," Pierce switches to a romantic ballad that cuts to the heart with rich vamping. "Inchworm" is an impressive display of technical craftsmanship with a classic melody, which Bill makes sound easy and lighthearted. The final tune, "Hurricane," is the grand exit to a full album of impressive music.
