The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
The Story
"The Divine Wings Of Tragedy", the third from the powerful progressive group Symphony X, blended raw sounding, hard-edged metal and Michael Romeo's thrilling guitar work with poignant, romantic music set off by vocalist Russell Allen. The blazing "Of Sins And Shadows" opens the disc with outstanding axe work and wicked keyboards (thanks to Michael Pinnella). At times reminiscent of a heavier Dream Theater, the epic tracks such as the almost 10-minute "The Accolade" and the over 20-minute title track are the stunners on "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy", taking the listener on a prog-metal joyride. Upon initial release, the CD garnered tremendous enthusiasm from fans around the world but particularly in Europe, where it was showered with glowing reviews by the press.
