Introduction

The June-July edition is now online!

The Guitar Nine web site started in June of 1996 as a resource site for guitarists and independent musicians, with a half-dozen contributed columns, links to other musical web sites, and our first musical tools. Over 1000 columns and 220 interviews followed (126 bi-monthly issues), along with over $2 million dollars in guitar-oriented CD sales during our e-commerce days. 90% of those sales consisted of primarily instrumental guitar albums by unknown, independent musicians - an underserved market that no other entity thought deserved any attention in the mid-1990s. We're now entering our 22nd year, and we're planning to continue this ride far into the future with a site reboot, new features, and more!

Over 1100 instrumental guitarists, guitar-oriented guitarists and guitar-heavy bands are selling downloads through Apple's iTunes site. Every click-through supports the work done on this site!

New Columns

This edition's guest columnists are writing about open-string soloing, the CAGED system and, yes, playing guitar with a drill. We've got six contributed articles altogether - all written by returning columnists.

Mike Campese returns with a column focused on the modes with, "The Modes In One Position". Tom Hess is also back discussing CAGED, with "The CAGED System Literally Cages Your Guitar Playing". Guitarist Tommaso Zillio serves up a double shot of columnar expresso with "Even Achilles Was Heeled By Practicing Guitar" and "Guitarists, Don’t Get CAGED, Part 5" . Acoustic guitar specialist Simon Candy returns with "Soloing With Open Strings On Guitar, Part 3". Finally, Chris Schreiner offers up another in his series of Stupid Guitar Tricks with "Stupid Guitar Trick #7 - The Drill Trick".
