The Undiscovered: Christopher Wilhelm

Alaskan Christopher Wilhelm gives 'efficient recording' a new meaning. The seven songs on his EP-length CD Cedars Of Ketchikan were all recorded the evening of March 1, 2000, in Lance Bifoss' living room. All tracks were performed on Taylor guitar, and are all 'live' takes, with no overdubs or backup tracks. Each song on the CD is dedicated to, and inspired by, a different woman (each a resident of Ketchikan, Alaska) whose versatility and strength give their community character, charisma and charm. The music overall is melodic and upbeat, while displaying an introspective or reflective feel during the slower tempos. Cedars Of Ketchikan is an acoustic album that's as inviting as a warm igloo on an Arctic evening - give it a listen for enjoyment or inspiration.

Christopher grew up in Lawrence, Kansas. Early on, he fell in love with the acoustic music of Paul Simon. He followed virtuoso electric guitarist Jimmy Page and other metal rock groups before delighting in the re-discovery of solo six-string acoustic music in the early 1980s. Among his influences, Christopher counts David Qualey, Michael Hedges, and Joe Moon. Christopher studied under James Hensperger for several years. He lives with his wife and two children in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Cedars Of Ketchikan is Wilhelm's first recording for distribution, and can be found in many stores in the Ketchikan area, as well as on the Internet.
