The Rediscovered: Dominic Gaudious
Using 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars (and the occasional electric) Georgia's Dominic Gaudious shines on The Clearing,, a dynamic collection of instrumentals in styles ranging from Indian to classical, and from Celtic to Spanish. Songs such as "Bareback" and "Far East Fusion" establish a new age mood, whereas "No Worries" and the title track are up-tempo, fusiony rock numbers. The Clearing is Gaudious third CD (following "Where I Stand" and "Acoustic Captivity"), and his passion for exciting, exotic acoustic music is now well established. His compositions come roaring out of the speakers with brilliant clarity and you find yourself intricately woven into the song's melodic message. Gaudious certainly has a bright future ahead of him in the realm of acoustic guitar dominated music. Dominic Gaudious was originally profiled in the August-September, 2001 edition of The Undiscovered.
After successfully releasing two albums and touring with an eclectic rock band in the 1980s, Dominic found his passion in the contemplative world of classical/world beat music. He has toured the USA and has performed as far away as Japan. He has performed with the Atlanta Symphony, as well as opened for artists such as Acoustic Alchemy and Kip Winger. Dominic has received radio airplay and his music is featured in-flight on a variety of airlines. His music has also been featured on episodes of MTV's Road Rules/Real World Challenge. Dominic acquired a licensing deal for his song "Acoustic Captivity" to be included in hurricane radio alert ads for Savannah electric.
Gaudious recently was asked to perform at the after-show party for G3 (Satriani, Vai, Petrucci) on July 19 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta.
