Bootsmann

Windminister
Sold through Guitar Nine thru 2012

Bootsmann (a Super Audio CD, recorded in DSD for maximum sound quality) is the first release from Windminister, a German duo consisting of acoustic guitarists Eberhard Klunker and Olaf Wegener. Klunker notes, "People who listen to the album sometimes assume there might be some electronic trickery involved. For example, the long notes in the intro and the fade out ("Monk 4") were done with a bottleneck device. There are also complex arrangements, leading to the assumption there might be the playing of more than two guitars. But there is nothing like that involved in these recordings. It is all natural, like playing in a live concert. For us there is no difference between performing and recording. We only record music that we can play the same way on stage. We try to achieve the most natural and fresh sound. Our recordings are a documentation of the music that really happend in time and space. This demands the best equipment available. All recordings on this SACD (compatible with all CD and SACD players) are first takes without cuts, overdubs, artifical reverb and manipulation of sound. "This one is definitely a keeper, and very highly recommended!" - Tom Gibbs, June 2005 (Audiophile Audition)
