Canada's Vegas Beach are the self proclaimed pioneers of the Surf Noir genre (a dark and twisted instrumental blend of surf, goth, rockabilly, old school rock'n'roll, New Orleans jazz and southern swamp blues, sprinkled with even a hint of country and a healthy dose of camp). Their 2005 CD is entitled Share The Sand, and features 12 rollicking instrumentals. Vegas Beach is the latest project from Ricky Las Vegas, cofounder of the Vampire Beach Babes. Formed from the ranks of now legendary New World Disorder, the boys from Vegas Beach are the self proclaimed pioneers of 'surf noir'. On their first album Dark Side of the Beach, recorded live in only a few hours, the boys continue to experiment with the quirky mix of the surf and gothic genres that defines the Beach Babes style. But Vegas Beach have brought a variety of other influences into the mix, creating soundscapes that slip effortlessly between the dark and the light. So pour yourself a glass of Lonesome Monkey, kick off your shoes and pull up a chair on Vegas Beach.
