Guitarist Tony Smotherman And Brain Station (bassist Andy Haney, drummer Bruce Royal) have released Embracing The Spirit, an all instrumental hard rock CD with some modern melodic guitar playing fused with a dose of shred. The metallic sounding throb of "Visions And Dreams" gets the ball rolling, while the emotional "I Don't Understand" takes it down a notch before "Distant Beams Of You" enters high energy whammy bar territory once again. The blistering tracks "The Perfect Thing To Say" and "The Mississippi Weaping Willow" shows Smotherman capable of a seriously amazing guitar shock (think early Van Halen) - heck, he even adds some sitar work in the intro ("At The Ridge Of Jahku Temple") and outro ("Two Moments Past") pieces. Embracing The Spirit is a heavy trio recording with all the bells and whistles.
