As jazz guitarist Joe Negri stated, "Todd Mussman is definitely breaking new ground for the jazz guitar. 8 strings - a smooth bassline supporting chords and single note melodic lines - all presented in a tasty jazz format. Chris Parker provides crisp, swinging, rhythmic backup." A succinct description of the music on File Under Jazz, a duo project featuring Parker and the Pennsylvania based guitarist Todd Mussman. Certainly playing an eight-string guitar is enough to turn a few heads, but tracks such as "Road Song" and the quick hitter "Clockwork" feature melodic, jazzy flourishes, accessible arrangements, and a remarkably 'full' sound, considering the presence of just the two musicians. Worth a close listen.
