The California-based trio Stone has released Here Before, which includes 11 originals and 3 blues covers, and contains all the songs the band perform in concert and those that the crowds repeatedly request. Some writers have called Stone's music "Americana" and have compared their songs to Bruce Springsteen and Don Henley, and suggested that Brad Wilson's virtuoso guitar playing is reminiscent of Eric Clapton. Rounding out the three-piece are J.J. Garcia on drums and Brian James on bass. Ultimately, bands are remembered or measured by their songs, a marriage of riffs and lyrics that are at the heart of a great show or record. When asked about the inspiration for the songs on Here Before, Wilson explained, "Traveling by van across the U.S. brings us in touch with so many regions and people. These songs really pull together some of our experiences and become a part of our lives, like road signs reminding us of where we've been and where we're going."
