Steve Stephen

It isn't often that you discover a young musician with a passion for acoustic guitar but then there aren't many people like Steve Stephen. The unique style of his playing is as unmistakable as his name and just as memorable. At age 17, after hearing Al DiMeola, Paco De Lucia and Ottmar Liebert, he fell in love with the acoustic guitar and began to experiment with Spanish/Latin, jazz and new age music. At last he had found the artistic forum most suited to his imagination and passion. He liked the emotional quality of the music. His playing flourished and his composition skills became more complex as he combined his influences into one soulful whole. As luck would have it, Steve met legendary drummer, Simon Phillips when he was 23. Upon hearing Steve's songs, Simon offered to record with him in his home studio and became a wonderful source of encouragement. Phillips contributed to several songs on the ensuing recordings, as did renowned bassist Mike Porcaro. Steve Stephen is one of the most exciting new artists on the scene today. His passion for an often overlooked and under celebrated format is instantly contagious.
