From My Window is a recording in the Larry Carlton-Lee Ritenour tradition -- contemporary jazz fueled by Richard Smith's blazing overdriven solo passages and nylon string melodic moments. Smith's fourth solo recording, From My Window offers eight emotive instrumentals, superbly produced, which feature the guitar in the melodic and solo forefront, supported by keyboards, saxophones and mandolins. Highlights include the opening track "Sashasong", with its extended, cutting electric lead break, "Loose Canon", which finds Smith augmenting his nylon string lines with 'loud guitar' fusillades, and "Rhumba Malaysia", a wonderfully rhythmic piece with an instantly memorable motif.
