Clazz

Razz
Sold through Guitar Nine thru 2012

Formed in 1983 by keyboard player Brian Sawyers and drummer Todd Voelker, Razz was conceived as a vehicle for local musicians to record their best work using the compositional styles of Sawyers as a base. "With Clazz," states Sawyers, "we wanted to capture the energy and finesse of guitar based fusion." Due to their exquisite musicianship and flawless technique, guitarists Matthew Von Doran and Tom Beven were natural picks for Clazz -- both taking the opportunity to explore compound extended phrasing and complex time signatures. The resulting fluidity of line creates a musical journey within each composition. Razz strives to cross the boundaries of many genres by fusing classical, jazz, R&B and Latin styles through evolving forms, interesting harmonic progressions and a solid groove. Progressive, original material that delicately stretches the boundaries gives Razz its unique musical signature.
