Novak & Haar's debut instrumental jazz album, A Summer's Carol, features an engaging mix of originals ("J & M Blues", "Be-Bop" and the title track) along with creative cover versions of songs such as Peter Green's "Black Magic Woman", Pat Metheny's "Hermitage", Van Morrison's "Moondance" and Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff". Guitarist Jon Novak has been playing guitar professionally since 1970. After touring the Midwest and playing a wide variety of guitar styles from musicals to blues, he now concentrates his efforts on his love for jazz guitar. He also spends time composing and arranging, and released a CD in 1997 with Blue House. Bassist Mark Haar has been playing bass for ten years. During that time he has played in many differing musical genres. Most often, he has been seen playing with many different jazz ensembles, everything from a small duo to a large big band jazz ensemble. Another home for Mark is the symphonic orchestra as he is currently a member of the Lincoln Symphony.
