Danish guitarist Jesper Nordal releases his debut album Twang as leader of his group, Nordal Twang. After being sideman in a lot of bands for many years, now is the time he chose to become leader of his own project. The music comes from the desire to embrace blues, rock and jazz music with the guitar as the connecting link, and with the focus on simple melody and intense interplay. Listen to funky guitar chords ala John Mayer in the blistering, rockin' âWhy And When", and groovy blues/soul like John Scofield in the tune âSpread the Wordâ. And when you listen to the simple and melodical country jazz in the tune âLike Wild
Flowers Doâ, artists like Bill Frisell comes to mind. On this record also hear the art of duo with guitar and pedal steel played by the incredible steel guitar player Lynge Wagner - and you'll be able to see the dusty Western desert clearly. The music is open and inviting with simplicity and a big guitar sound, with elements from Daniel Lanois and Jimi Hendrix. With a thoughtfulness that comes from many years of experience with the sound and compositional techniques. This is Jesper Nordals version of a guitar-oriented jazz sound.
