Guitarist Michael Mangaroo's CD Eclectic Visions is a cinematic journey into instrumental rock, with a supporting cast that includes Willie Cooper on keys, Chris O'Sullivan on drums, Mike Diemke on soprano sax, Darlene Partin on flute, and many others. Mangaroo uses both overdriven electric guitar and acostic guitar to great effect, delivering a highly original set of seven instrumentals, that are, to paraphrase the title, truly eclectic. The highly charged "One Mans Journey" gets the ball rolling, while the beautiful, rolling "Vision" sets the stage for the exotic-sounding "Ancient Sun", which is bolstered by Partin's flute playing. A highlight may be the melodic track, "The Great Exchange", with its strong theme and emotional playing.
