Austria's Jam gets their name from the trio of band members' initials: J for bassist Josef Gangelmayer, A for guitarist and composer Alfredo Garcia-Navas and M for drummer Michael Ebm. The band's music on Beatless is an instrumental jazzy fusion incorporating various world influences, as well as Latin and funk elements. The title track is a ten-minute plus groove that quotes several Lennon-McCartney penned Beatles numbers, including "With A Little Help" and "Norwegian Wood", among others. Garcia-Navas incorporates generous solo passages in between melodies to help tie everything together. "Samba Pa Mi" is a jazzy send-up of the song made famous on the Santana "Abraxas" CD.
