Guitarist Shawn Lane is back on Personae with bassist Jonas Hellborg, along with drummer Jeff Sipe, recorded live in Germany in 1996 and 1997. The trio blaze through instrumental electric fusion with graceful fluidty and musical sparks flying. For a philisophical insight into the music, the liner notes state, "At what moment does music come into existence? At the moment of intent, execution or perception? Whose identity does it reflect: the composer, the performer or the audience? Is it a grid to measure the space/time continuum or is it its own dimension? Does it communicate something or is it a mirror for us to see in? If so, what do we see in it? Are we really separate in the realm of music? Is your Bach different form mine? Are there several different musical personae or one?"
