Written while listening to near fatal doses of Chris Poland's "Return To Metalopolis", Racer X and George Lynch, LandSpeedRecord offers nine instrumental tracks (and a bonus acoustic vocal number that closes the CD) in the hard rock vein. GasHead is a project spearheaded by guitarist Mike Lopez, aided by drummer Nate Scofield and guitarist/producer Dave Beegle (of Fourth Estate). Each piece is dedicated to a friend, family member, or, like "El Cid", dedicated to Mr. Scary himself, George Lynch. Beegle adds guest guitar solos to "El Cid" - a hard rock/metal tour-de-force. A cover of the Scorpions instrumental "Coast To Coast" is included, "The Leaper" combines "Flying In A Blue Dream"-era Satriani and Megadeth, while "Post Hypnotic S" features a shred ukulele solo from Morris Beegle.
