Under The Lash Of Gravity represents a creative turn for guitarists Brett Garsed and T.J. Helmerich as they blend various electronica influences and '90s rhythms with Helmerich's vocals -- with guitars being the appetizers, rather than the main course. The addition of Black on turntable adds to the dramatic change in style from Garsed & Helmerich's early '90s albums "Quid Pro Quo" and "Exempt". The most guitar-laden works are the three instrumental pieces, "Vicoden", "Galactic Waterhole" and "Bad Luck Go Away", as extended legato guitar excursions rule the roost once again. Also, some nice slide work appears in the solo section on "State Of The Art". Under The Lash Of Gravity is a challenging sonic soundscape reflecting the duo's growth over the past five years.
