Baula Project

Hailing from San Jose, Costa Rica, guitarist and composer Federico Miranda brings to the table an eclectic blend of rock and jazz spiced with the Latin flavor of his home country. Born in 1976, Miranda has been playing since the age of 12 and has been active in the music scene for more than a decade as co-founder and lead guitarist for Costa Rica's pioneer rock band, Gandhi. Federico Miranda now presents his first instrumental solo album entitled Baula Project. Miranda was originally invited to the International Guitar Festival of Costa Rica where he played his electric guitar arrangement of "Concierto de Aranjuez" by Joaquin Rodrigo. He was acclaimed by guitar virtuoso Luis Salinas, who later encouraged Miranda to record his solo work. As a result came Baula Project, which transposes the emotions of Costa Rican life and nature into melodies sung by the electric guitar, all surrounded by a variety of musical textures. For this, Miranda gathered a unique selection of Costa Rican musicians including pianist Walter Flores, two-time Grammy winner and co-producer of the album.
