After heating it up on electric guitar for years with John Wetton's band and touring with the group Asia, David Kilminster has picked up his acoustic guitar and teamed with guitarist Fraser Thorneycroft-Smith to record Playing With Fire - 10 live-in-the-studio tracks of 'alternative-classical'. The music is a fusion of a number of styles, including flamenco, progressive rock, blues, classical, world and who knows what else! Both Kilminster and Thorneycroft-Smith are excellent fretmeisters who can display dazzling speed one moment (ala Al DiMeola) and incredibly beautiful melodicism the next (ala Jimmy Page's acoustic work on several Led Zeppelin albums). Playing With Fire is a great introduction to the power and range of a pair of acoustic guitars--give this one a listen.
