Fans of hard rock and a ripping, squealing guitar style reminiscent of Warren DiMartini, Joey Tafolla and George Lynch will love Purist. New York guitarist Dave Atherton plays up a storm over the ten all instrumental tracks, which are enhanced by the bass work of Mike Todd and the drumming of John DiGiulio. Stellar cuts such as "Distant Planet", "Genesis Man" and the title track all feature as much agile guitar work, harmonized melodic statements, furious alternate picking, extended soloing and amped-up attitude as Atherton can deliver. Purist tosses so many hard-rocking riffs out there that it may pose a health hazard to small children. Jonathan Mover (Joe Satriani, Frank Gambale, Stuart Hamm) is the guest drummer on the opening track "Reanimator".
