Following several releases alongside accomplished Ontario, Canada based singer/songwriter Stewart Hooey, Dal Knezevic has released his self-produced funk/fusion/jazz debut entitled Notes From The Underground. From the opening notes of New Funk all the way through the remaining eight titles, it remains clear that the album's main focus is on the almighty groove, supplied aptly by funky rhythm section and the rest of Dal's quintet on percussion, keyboards, tenor sax and flute. Reminiscent of some of Charlie Hunter's recent work and at times delving into Herbie Hancock 1970's territory, Notes From The Underground is never just a guitar release but rather a team effort, covering wide sonic spectrum with passionate playing by everyone involved!
