First Light is guitarist Ben Sherman's diverse new, all-instrumental CD, documenting his mastery of the guitar over ten rock/jazz tracks that communicate the sheer joy and enthusiasm that Ben feels about music. Sherman, who is quite capable of freelancing in every style imaginable, takes off on First Light, combining a highly melodic guitar style with soaring lead work on tracks such as the cinematic "Nightmare On Church Street". The driving rhythms of "Countdown" are complemented by a powerful theme and punctuated with fine fretburning moments. High caliber performances throughout.
