Influenced by major artists such as Van Halen, Rush, Joe Satriani and Dream Theater, Brazilian hard rock guitarist Alex Martinho has released his second CD, an all-instrumental, eleven track album entitled Evolution. Martinho peppers his compositions with wild, rock-inspired intensity, progressive tempo shifts, whammy slams, blistering open-string riffs - all delivered with knuckle-busting chops honed at the Guitar Institute in Hollywood. Co-produced with Marcelo Gomes, who has engineered on a number of Steve Vai's recordings (including "Fire Garden" and "The Ultra Zone), Evolution will please fans of note-heavy, melodically evocative and freaked-out guitar lines in a variety of contexts, including hard rock progressive... and a touch of metal.
