Italian guitarist Alessandro Benvenuti blazes a fusion/shred trail with his eight song CD, the all-instrumental Sonic Design. In addition to Benvenuti's incredible technical skill and energy, the CD features high-powered guest guitarists, such as the world-renowned Frank Gambale (Chick Corea, Vital Information) on two tracks and the amazing Prashant Aswani (Greg Howe, Herbie Hancock) on one track. Benvenuit's brother Gian Marco also provides keyboard work on the album, which enters that great rock/fusion territory forged by guitarists such as Aswani, Howe and Shaun Baxter - all guitarists who can successfully blend speed, composition, dynamics and passion into a satisfying aural work. One listen to tracks such as "The Sense Of Change", "Eternal Dream" and "EgoCentric" will convince you - Benvenuti's got the right stuff.
