Turkish guitarist Akin Eldes is back with another edgy CD, Turlu, following up his 2002 release, "Kafi" with a nine song instrumental (one vocal) work blending fusion, improvisational hard rock, progressive rock and modern rhythms. Recorded in a trio format with occasional guest artists, Eldes uses a multitude of guitar tones, wild effects, overdriven amps, and wah-wah pedals to express himself on the six-string. Check out the larger-than-life, extended improvs on tracks such as "Hayal Meyal" and "Agirparca" for a great introduction to what Eldes and his music are all about. Written with little regard to commercial restrictions, Turlu packs a progression/fusion/rock wallop.
