70th Birthday Concert
The Story
It's a warm summer's Saturday night, July 19, 2003 in Liverpool, England and the eager audience patiently waits. In celebration of John Mayall's 70th birthday and for the benefit of UNICEF's fight against child exploitation, the Bluesbreakers (with Buddy Whittington, Joe Yuele, Tom Canning and Hank Van Sickle) kick off "70th Birthday Concert" with a bang, and are later joined by guests such as Mick Taylor, Chris Barber and Eric Clapton. Mayall states, "To play again with Eric after a gap of 38 years was like time had just melted away. I forsee that there will probably never be a night like this again and so it's such a blessing that it was all captured on tape and film for all of us to treasure in the years to come."
