Paco De Lucia

"Zyryab"

The Story
"Zyryab" features more incredible flamenco compositions by Paco De Lucia, notably, the title track performed with pianist Chick Corea. Guitarist Manolo Sanlucar also joins De Lucia on "Compadres" for a flamenco summit. "Zyryab" highlights include "Tio Sabas", "Chick" and the richly textured and intricate buleria "Soniquete", which opens the CD with brief vocals by Ramon "El Pesicola" (the bulk of the seven minute track is instrumental). The title track has been described as a masterwork of technique, composition, flair and emotion. "Zyryab" is a musical statement dedicated to Abu 'l-Hassan Ali ibn Nafi, a ninth-century musical innovator.
