Review of "Zone"
|
oly cow! This CD may represent some of the hottest and most precise jazz-fusion / death metal hybrid music ever to be experienced by mortal man! My speakers are still smoking! Truly the answer to my heavy-metal / fusion fantasies. The performance and chops level here of the entire band is above outstanding, and is clearly presented via ultra biting top-notch production. This all-instrumental creation by noted guitarist David Marton can be described as a framework of wild progressive jazz-fusion, occasionally colored with delicate jazz / acoustic guitar, and more often colored with super heavy gutt-ripping death metal sections and flying odd-time rollercoaster
rides. Perhaps Slayer meets Return To Forever? This is NOT your typical "progressive-metal",
but is far more exciting and musical. This CD is truly a "must have" for any prog/fusion/metal fan,
as it sets the standard for sheer precision, heaviness and excellence. This may be the most
impressive instrumental indie release I've ever heard to date.
