Folk/Fingerstyle
Yellow Folk Hillbilly is the first solo CD by Delirious Tremor guitarist and composer Tim Jenkins. It is quite different than DT music in that it is almost entirely acoustic and certainly a little more on the folk side. The harmony is broader than what you are likely to hear in folk music (even folk music that is largely instrumental) and the compositions are extremely soulful - full of terrific melodies and improvisations. The guitar work is augmented by banjo and mandolin, as well as by the world percussion of Jon Seligman, whose textured polyrhythms add richly to this album. You will hear very simple country-like melancholy, complex arrangement, and even two pieces that are free improvisations for solo guitar. This is music with many listens. It will hit you as original and accessible simultaneously. Each tune means something and is meant to reflect something beyond music - art. Instrumental Guitar (Acoustic/Folk/Fingerstyle), total running time, 37:59
In your opinion, which guitarist has a similar style or sound as Tim Jenkins?
