Guitarist Kenny Serane and drummer Stephane Boutinaud are two French musicians who met in 2003 and quite naturally decided to collaborate. Their EP/CD, Workshop, is the first fruit of this association. The disc advances a compositional style reminiscent of Liquid Tension Experiment, and especially Planet X. The four instrumental tracks are of high quality, and never fall into the musical black hole of pointless virtuosity. "Hackers", "Mind Control" and "Prism" together make it possible to appreciate the many talents of this duet, with a progressive metal and fusion blend featuring complex riffs, time signatures and rhythms. Kenny Serane shows amazing control, combining a solid technical base with a keen melodic touch - a la Steve Lukather ("Virtual Breath").
