John Scofield

"Works For Me"

The Story
John Scofield's 2001 release, "Works For Me", is a quintet project with some of the biggest names in jazz! Joining John to form his one-time-only dream band are Kenny Garrett (sax), Brad Meldhau (piano), Christian McBride (bass) and Billy Higgins (drums). Billy Higgins is a jazz legend (some of the songs on this disc were inspired by his classic recordings), and Meldhau brings a new sensitivity and energy to jazz piano. Scofield enjoyed making "real jazz" with these master players, and his solos burn with the taste and maturity you'd expect from a seasoned player. Straight-ahead jazz from a musical chameleon.
