letter fter the great success of "Blow By Blow", Beck in a fitting way teamed with ex-Mahavishnu Orchestra keyboardist extraordinaire Jan Hammer, for yet another classic instrumental, fusion album. Taking the highlights from "Blow By Blow", he turns the energy levels up a couple notches on Wired. the songs are very groove and hook oriented, which leaves room for Beck and Hammer to fill the voids with their frenetic soloing skills. And the album was one to place Beck in history as one of the all-time greats on the instrument. Many guitarists have shown more speed, and technical prowess than Beck, but very few have grasped the guitar and were able to create of voice of their own through it. That is the beauty of his playing, he conjures and evokes sounds all of his own through the instrument, and paints melodic pictures over the well structured rhythm sections, giving the music personality that is rare in this style. This album went on to inspire a new generation of guitarists and keyboardists alike, setting a new standard for jazz/rock fusion.
