eck's latest is his freshest, most vital recording in quite some time. The tunes are modern electronic washes that are perfect for Beck to
place his trademark phrases and go wild, which he does to great effect here. Tony Hymas on keys, longtime Beck collaborator, knows how to bring out the best in Beck and that he does; "Pycho Sam" is a
hypnotic piece of electronica with an outstanding solo from Beck and the live blues track is yet another reminder of the sublime Beck touch.
Perhaps the high point of the album is the odd-meter, Eastern-inspired "Blast from the East". Recommended
