Bloyd puts the hammer down on Wanna Play? - an eleven song descent into 'acid metal', which has been described as taking the compositional approach of Frank Zappa and blending it with the rhythm guitar chunk of '80s-era Metallica, the lead guitar of Steve Vai, and a backing band of Dream Theater quality. Bloyd takes his listener through a rhythmic tsunami peppered with shredded guitar lines and the other-worldly sounds of who-knows-what-else as he creates a virtual soundtrack for musical mind expansion. Like the 1994 CD, "Gutted" (released under the Brian Loyd Band name), the overall effect of the compositions is challenging and far-reaching as Bloyd strives to offer something new for instrumental fans of heavy music. The vocal tracks are not the traditional lyrics and singing you might find in heavy metal, but rather are 'vocal effects'-based, meaning the occasional use of spoken or whispered vocals, or heavily processed, compressed, pitch-shifted, or otherwise effected vocal flavorings. A two-fisted metal album - not for the faint of heart! Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Heavy Metal), total running time, 38:50
